It's the finest text editor on any platform. BBEdit
is the example other programs try to follow. It's not
the text editing that makes it special - it's the
evolution of its GUI. A few features that were on
BBEdit first:
toolbars in windows
dockable/customizable palletes
AppleScript integration
Internet integration
syntax coloring
plug-ins
cool-looking t-shirts at Macworld Expos
As a value proposition, it has faded in the last
few years, but some say that's only because it has
reached perfection - there's nothing more to add.
