I always thought of AppleCare as both the initial
1-year warranty period and the optional 2 years after
that. I'm covered. I will not seriously consider
buying the extra 2 years. It's only $169 and I have
until next September to decide.

Others have been complaining of noisy/whiny power
supplies, but I didn't see anyone else with my
problem on the Apple Discussion boards, which is why
I started a new topic.

Thanks for the forewarning. I'm expecting to get mine this weekend. Curious as to why you'd use AppleCare instead of warranty. Clearly this is a heat-build-up...

The saga continues...I just replaced the old power supply unit (PSU) and everything is working so far (2+ hours at full CPU loading) - the PSU is both quieter...
